Great Britain

What do we associate with Great Britain?

The United Kingdom comprises Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland) and Northern Ireland. Great Britain is in fact part of the archipelago called the British Isles, including, apart from the mainland and Ireland, many smaller islands (the biggest are the Hebrides, the Shetlands and the Orkneys). British people are considered very eccentric. To the question "Where is Europe?" they will answer:"Close to the British Isles, just across the English Channel"

The showcase of Great Britain is undoubtedly the wonderful city of London - where on its streets you can meet representatives of all nations and religions. And that is why it is called the most tolerant metropolis of the world. This can be also testified by the fact that in London`s Hyde Park, everyone can make any speech from a platform at Speakers Corner, which however cannot offend the Royal Family.

Great Britain is a country that can be desribed as a blend of modernity and tradition, colonial memories and much tolerance. Incessantly it reminds one of monuments, landscapes, the cult bowler hat, Rolls Royce and Jaguar, "The Times", MTV and the BBC. The incredible character of this place is the result of the existence of such details as: unique telephone boxes, old-fashioned taxis, policemen in funny uniforms (called "Bobbies"), ("double-decker") buses and pudding - a meal that is famous all over the world because of the fact that no-one can eat it except Englishmen.
